Over 700 years ago, at the end of a century that saw war, drastic changes, and a multitude of discoveries, a young monk from Genoa used his talents of a steady hand, an artistic eye, and Grace-full heart, to copy a breviary for the use of his brethren at the Camaldoli monastery.
It is written in Latin, with Gothic script, embellished with decorative lettering, on parchment and holds the prayers, chants, and sermons, for daily recitation during the canonical hours. The Camaldoli manuscript displays the same attributes as many of the multitude of manuscripts that were created before and after its own creation the year 1291.
